About the position

The Classroom Nurse Substitute provides essential health-related, instructional, and clerical services to ensure that students requiring direct nursing care can participate safely and meaningfully in school activities. This role operates under the general supervision of an administrator, district school nurse, and/or the student's teacher (case manager), performing tasks that follow established nursing methods and practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to students as needed.
• Assist in the implementation of health-related instructional services.
• Perform clerical duties related to student health records and care.
• Support students in their participation in school activities while ensuring their health and safety.
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to address the health needs of students.

Requirements

• Valid nursing license or certification appropriate for the role.
• Experience in a school or educational setting is preferred.
• Ability to work under general supervision and follow established procedures.
• Strong communication skills to interact with students, staff, and parents.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish, is a plus.
• Experience with special education students or in a special education environment.
