About the position

The Classroom Teacher II position is responsible for providing quality education and care to children aged 0-5 in a classroom setting. The teacher will implement educational plans, conduct assessments, and maintain communication with families to support each child's developmental progress. This role requires collaboration with parents and staff to create a nurturing learning environment that adheres to educational standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, complete, and track all required home visits and parent/teacher conferences.
  • Schedule and complete child developmental screenings and assessments.
  • Ensure collection of and timely online entry of classroom observations and documentation.
  • Complete assessment finalization checkpoints for all children within the specified time frame for each event.
  • Use assessment results to create/update individualized plans in conjunction with parents to address each child's needs and track progress.
  • Plan and implement indoor and outdoor learning environments and experiences using the Creative Curriculum System and other frameworks.
  • Implement daily activity plans, field trips, and transition activities, submitting required documents to the Child Development Coordinator.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children with disabilities, integrating goals into lesson planning.
  • Maintain required documentation on children and classroom activities, submitting reports to the Child Development Coordinator.
  • Maintain communication with families regarding developmental progress and other pertinent information using the PFCE Framework.
  • Document the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) within the classroom according to regulations.
  • Implement health and safety policies and procedures, including storage of hazardous materials and daily child observation.
  • Participate in the ongoing generation and collection of non-federal shares (In-kind).
  • Use positive guidance strategies to promote positive behaviors among children.
  • Conduct direct supervision of all children at all times and demonstrate active supervision.
  • Assist with the arrival and departure of children, and ensure clear communication between parents and the center.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and center activities as assigned.
  • Assist in training and/or supporting other teaching staff as requested.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood or related field with 18 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education, or a state-issued Teaching License for pre-kindergarten or early childhood education.
  • Preferred teaching experience with children ages 0-5.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).
  • Basic computer skills including data entry and internet proficiency.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license with adequate car insurance.
