About the position

The Clean Energy and Community Resiliency Program Officer at the Initiative Foundation is responsible for leading programs and strategies that support rural communities in clean energy initiatives and community resiliency efforts. This role involves developing and managing programs, coordinating grants, and collaborating with local governments and nonprofits to enhance economic opportunities and disaster preparedness in central Minnesota.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vision, strategies, and long-term outcomes for clean energy and community resiliency programs.
  • Manage program budget and secure additional funding.
  • Maintain relationships with partners and funders to identify program fit and approaches.
  • Facilitate services to support local governments and nonprofits in identifying community needs and project feasibility studies.
  • Assist in writing and managing grants for clean energy and community resilience projects.
  • Recruit and facilitate cohorts of small-city and nonprofit leaders for collaborative projects.
  • Participate in regional and state networks to elevate program profile and attract resources.
  • Manage grant funding for community events and special initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in community development or related field.
  • Three years of clean energy-related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the clean energy sector and community development in rural areas.
  • Experience working across cultures with diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under multiple deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance coverage or access to reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing or coordinating nonprofit programs.
  • Experience in grant development and management.
  • Experience in technical assistance for clean energy funding and programming.
  • Experience in community engagement and coalition-building.
