About the position

The Senior Specialist for Demand Response at Con Edison plays a crucial role in leading the execution of the company's electric Demand Response programs. This position involves managing various demand response initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency, and engaging with stakeholders to support the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. The role requires a blend of technical and policy analysis skills, along with a commitment to fostering a customer-centric culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of electric Demand Response programs including design, operational, administrative, and performance analysis.
  • Support the design and operations of various demand response programs such as Commercial System Relief Program and Dynamic Load Management.
  • Manage program dispatch, performance analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coordinate with NYISO and other departments to ensure effective program administration and operations.
  • Prepare and present program status information to senior management and external audiences.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests from Marketing and Sales teams.
  • Manage budget and processes to enhance operational efficiency of Demand Response programs.
  • Participate in the on-call roster during summer capability periods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Business, Environmental Studies, or related field and 3 years relevant work experience, or a Master's Degree in the same fields with 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make decisions in real-time under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Science, Economics, Information Technology, Business, Environmental Studies, or related field with 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of demand response, utility strategy, and ISO programs.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Experience with database management, software development, and financial modeling.
