About the position

Stantec has an opportunity for a Clean Generation and Industrial Process Regional Sector Lead (RSL) & Account Manager to join our team in the Nashville, TN area. This position will be a core member of our Energy team and will work collaboratively with other local and regional Energy business leaders, as well as with Stantec's North American Clean Generation and Industrial Process team, to support the needs of our clients on local, regional, and national projects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing Stantec's market profile and position primarily as it relates to Industrial Process engineering and a secondary focus on Clean Generation engineering within the southeastern US. You will also build and lead project teams and oversee and direct projects throughout their complete life cycle beginning in the pursuit phase for a variety of project sectors and markets. The RSL leverages their technical skills, industry and market knowledge, leadership ability, and client and partner relationships to win and deliver projects to grow the business. This role requires a deep understanding of project management fundamentals, including project scope, cost, and schedule, and the ability to serve as a Project Technical Advisor in reviewing and evaluating technical work of other professionals. You will be expected to manage projects in line with Project Management Institute (PMI) industry standards and the Stantec Project Management Framework, ensuring consistent use of QA/QC processes and procedures. In addition to project execution, the RSL will engage in marketing and business development activities, maintaining a clear understanding of current and future market conditions, revenue potential, and major clients within the Southeast market. You will manage and develop accounts for key industrial clients, lead client presentations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess project feasibility and develop proposals. Furthermore, you will coach and mentor a team of professionals dedicated to growing our Industrial Process business and assist in resource management processes, recruitment, and succession planning across the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise and guidance on Industrial Process technologies, market trends, and regulatory requirements to internal teams and external partners.
  • Possess good business awareness and acumen and maintain a deep understanding of project management fundamentals: project scope, cost, and schedule.
  • Serve as a Project Technical Advisor in reviewing and evaluating technical work of other professionals.
  • Manage projects in line with Project Management Institute (PMI) industry standards and the Stantec Project Management Framework when needed.
  • Drive consistent use of QA/QC processes and procedures.
  • Complete work in line with Stantec's Core Values and in accordance with our Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) procedures and Design Delivery Guidelines.
  • Have a clear understanding of current and future market and business conditions, revenue and profit potential, and major clients and competitors within the Southeast market.
  • Manage and develop accounts for key industrial clients as well as for adjacent sectors.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Stantec's market position with clients, approval agencies, and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
  • Engage directly in identifying, pursuing, and winning pursuits.
  • Lead client presentations and client proposal responses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, finance, and operations to assess project feasibility, develop proposals, and execute contracts.
  • Coordinate with other BOU's having existing client relations and support in project execution planning across BOU's.
  • Grow internal and external networks and identify additional talent to join the Stantec team.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and represent Stantec in social, community, and business situations.
  • Coach, mentor, lead, and develop a team of professionals dedicated to growing our Industrial Process business and further developing Stantec's profile in the marketplace.
  • Assist in resource management processes, recruitment, and succession planning across the sector.
  • Lead technical approach development and delivery for projects and manage a community of our Energy practitioners.
  • Assist the Sector Leader and Business Center leaders in developing and implementing sector specific career and business goals for staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline or engineering. Master's preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience within the industrial sector that included project delivery, building client relations, and developing business.
  • Experience working at engineering and consulting company previously.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to engage, connect and motivate others as well as empower, mentor, teach, and promote others.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to understand project and team roles, scheduling, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
  • Preexisting relationships and experience with industrial clients in the Southeast region.
  • Entrepreneurial nature and ability to lead others to achieve group results.
  • Industrial process expertise and knowledge of industrial project life-cycle planning and execution.
  • Understanding of state and federal regulations, and the ability to adapt to client-specific requirements.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar materials.
  • Ability to concurrently lead several projects or tasks with a sound understanding of overall goals, objectives, and costs to our clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills, and desire to encourage and coach junior staff.
