About the position

The Cleared Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon Data Services is responsible for the hands-on troubleshooting and operation of mechanical and electrical equipment within data centers. This role requires maintaining a Top Secret security clearance and involves working in a 24/7 environment, performing tasks such as operating generators, switchgear, and HVAC systems, while ensuring adherence to safety procedures. Technicians will work rotating 12-hour shifts and are expected to respond to emergencies and perform routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment, including emergency generators and fire/life safety systems.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs.
• Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes and HVAC PMs.
• Support Data Center Operations technicians in their tasks.
• Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures during work.
• Take daily operational readings of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Utilize internal CMMS to manage workflows and spare part inventory.
• Supervise contractors performing servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Respond to off-hour emergency calls as part of the on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of maintenance experience on mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Valid Top Secret Security Clearance.
• Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
• Experience operating electrical or mechanical systems in a mission-critical environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout.
• Experience with building management systems (BMS and EPMS).
• Operating engineering licenses such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent.
