About the position

SiloSmashers is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to join its growing contract supporting a federal government agency. The government customer requires the expertise of an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support its multiple networking initiatives across all areas of the division. Specifically, the government customer is looking for expertise to provide network engineering and architectural-level services for operations, maintenance, network infrastructure, capacity management, reporting and IT enhancements for its systems. Furthermore, this government agency requires expertise related to planning and implementing telecommunications and information technology infrastructures; network administration which includes network access and security; Zero Trust; IT disaster recovery planning and execution; IT inventory control; audio, video, and web conferencing; wireless services; and voice (VoIP) and data services. The Senior Network Engineer is a matrixed role supporting multiple projects and is expected to have the wherewithal to prioritize, over-communicate, plan and tightly coordinate with a variety of stakeholders, while driving day-to-day work to completion. The Senior Network Engineer will also be responsible for traveling to field sites as needed in support of ongoing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Critical thinking, analytical thinking, deep understanding of Cisco routing/switching, strong ability to identify, correct, isolate, and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Proven experience with designing network topology, protocols, security, and connectivity based on government customer business and technical requirements.
  • Deep understanding of Cisco routing and switching, specifically with Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Center.
  • Ability to plan for new technology deployments including full solutioning, planning, migration, and replacement of existing technology.
  • Proven experience with virtual private networks (VPNs) remote access solutions and internal tunneling technologies.
  • Prior success with enhancing existing network monitoring capability or implementing new technology.
  • Experience with voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and configuring/troubleshooting enterprise routing designs.
  • Experience configuring and analyzing Cisco Firepower IDS/IPS and firewalls using FMC.
  • Experience supporting physical infrastructure such as racking, installation, configuration, and cabling.
  • Tracking network uptime on both the backbone and administrative networks and executing detailed network assessments and audits.
  • Experience with Virtual Switching Architecture such as VRF and VSS to support secure multi-tenant design within DMZ based virtual enclave.
  • Proven success with implementing or upgrading enterprise wireless solutions such as Cisco WLC.
  • Design, deploy and manage IEEE 802.1x network authentication and proxy services.
  • Plan and coordinate non-emergency outages affecting service areas.
  • Provide network and system infrastructure reports showing uptime, circuit link/CPU utilization, and capacity of all network and system elements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to technical team, ensuring successful completion of network implementation projects.
  • Provides high level network troubleshooting, testing and updating standard code versions and device templates.
  • Configures and installs network hardware and software to meet requirements and conform to technical design standards.
  • Enhancement design for medium and large-scale telecommunication infrastructures.
  • Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems.
  • Provides routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 15+ years performing network engineering.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Advanced degree (Master's degree or higher) and 12 years of experience.

  • Provides high level technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
  • Current DHS EOD.
