About the position

The CLEARED Technical Writer - Cyber position at Insight Global involves developing and reviewing a variety of technical communications deliverables. This includes engineering documentation, operational procedures, plans, action reports, and meeting minutes. The role requires close coordination with engineering teams to gather necessary input data to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the documentation produced. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, editing, and maintaining program technical documents, which encompass software and system engineering documents, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), test reports, user documentation, and implementation documentation. Additionally, the role includes creating, reviewing, editing, and maintaining technical drawings, ensuring that all documentation meets the required standards and is accessible to both internal and external audiences. The position is situated in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment, where the ability to work under pressure is essential. The Technical Writer will engage with clients, program managers, and subject matter experts to produce clear and concise documentation that effectively communicates complex technical information. The role also involves familiarity with various communication vehicles and practices, including print, electronic, video, and social media, to ensure that the information is disseminated effectively across different platforms. Responsibilities

  • Develop and review technical communications deliverables including engineering documentation, operational procedures, plans, action reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to obtain necessary input data for documentation.
  • Prepare, review, edit, and maintain program technical documents including software and system engineering documents, CONOPS, test reports, user documentation, and implementation documentation.
  • Create, review, edit, and maintain technical drawings.
  • Research and analyze complex technical material and break it down into concise, compelling copy that engages the reader.
  • Work under pressure with clients, program managers, and subject matter experts in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.
  • Create technical briefings including executive leadership briefings.
  • Develop news articles, monthly newsletters, executive messages, advanced PowerPoint presentations, and infographics.

Requirements

  • Must have an active Secret clearance and be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
  • 5+ years of technical writing experience including developing communications deliverables such as engineering documentation, plans, action reports, and meeting minutes for internal and external audiences.
  • Experience with creating and maintaining information system security documentation and SOPs.
  • Excellent hands-on experience with Microsoft Office including MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Fluid technical writing and editing skills, including the use of AP Style.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex technical material and break it down into concise, compelling copy that engages the reader.
  • Ability to work under pressure with clients, program managers, and subject matter experts in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.
  • Familiarity with a variety of internal and external communications vehicles, practices, and technologies, including print, electronic, video, and social media.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, Business or related, or 7+ years technical writing and editing experience with a High school diploma.
  • Experience with creating technical briefings including executive leadership briefings.
  • Experience developing news articles, monthly newsletters, executive messages, advanced PowerPoint presentations, and infographics.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity communications language and subject matter.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
