About the position

The Special Education Teacher at NeuroRestorative, part of the Sevita family, is responsible for providing individualized and group instruction to children and adolescents with special needs, particularly those with autism and other neurological disorders. This role involves planning educational services, coordinating lessons that align with Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), and maintaining a supportive learning environment in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, and provides weekly early educational services for assigned caseload of children and adolescents with special needs.
  • Administers and documents all program assessments and updates accurately, meeting designated timelines.
  • Maintains confidential client records/files and ensures all child and family information remains confidential.
  • Designs, implements, and adapts activities for various developmental areas including language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, self-help, and social/emotional development.
  • Models effective adult-child interactions and provides written information on parenting and child development as needed.
  • Provides written weekly activities and effective coaching to families.
  • Protects children and family rights and fulfills the responsibilities of a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse/neglect.
  • Monitors, documents, and shares the child's progress with families, stakeholders, and the treatment team.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with families and professionals both verbally and in writing.
  • Attends planning meetings and IEPs, staff meetings, and participates in professional development opportunities.
  • Abides by all program policies and performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education.
  • Special Education (ESE) certification required.
  • Two years of experience working with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, ID/DD, or other neurological and behavioral disorders preferred.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $45,000 - $50,000 per year.
