About the position

Cherokee Nation Federal Consulting (CNFC) is seeking a Clerical Support professional to join our team on the Swing Shift, which runs from 5 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday through Friday. This position is essential for providing office support through various clerical and data entry tasks that require a solid understanding of departmental functions, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing original data entry and verification functions on Information Returns using the SCRIPS system, as well as minor transcription of information into computer programs. The role also involves inputting data into an inventory tracking system and processing requests for various products, such as transcripts, utilizing automated tools on a computer system. In addition to data entry, the Clerical Support role includes general clerical duties such as filing, sorting, and batching documents. The candidate will be responsible for extracting mail from incoming deliveries, retrieving and filing documents, and preparing documents for scanning according to specific instructions. This includes ensuring that all staples are removed from documents and repairing any rips or tears. The position also requires preparing paper tax returns for numbering and transcription, as well as performing other job-related duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and at least one year of previous clerical or office experience. Proficiency in typing at least 25 words per minute and basic knowledge of Microsoft systems is required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain established records and files are essential. The candidate must also be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed. Compliance with federal regulations, including tax compliance and background checks, is mandatory for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform original entry and/or data verification functions on Information Returns on the SCRIPS system.
  • Input data into an inventory tracking system and process entity changes such as name and address changes.
  • Process requests for various products such as transcripts using automated tools.
  • Perform general clerical work including filing, sorting, and batching documents.
  • Extract mail from incoming deliveries and retrieve documents from files.
  • File documents and associate them with existing files.
  • Stamp documents with received dates and numbers.
  • Prepare documents for scanning, including removing staples and repairing rips or tears.
  • Prepare paper tax returns for numbering and transcription, including pen and ink changes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of previous clerical or office experience related to the listed duties.
  • Ability to type 25 words per minute and proficiency in ten-key entry.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft systems.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to maintain established records and files.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
