About the position

The Clerk I, Student Services (Office of Disability Services) (H-30) is a part-time position at Shelton State Community College, requiring 30 hours of work per week. This role is essential in supporting the Office of Disability Services by providing a range of clerical and administrative tasks. The primary responsibilities include typing, filing, copying, answering phone calls, assisting students with general inquiries, scheduling tests and appointments, and taking notes during meetings. The position is designed to facilitate communication and provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the public, particularly for students with disabilities. In this role, the Clerk I will be expected to demonstrate strong customer service skills and a caring attitude towards all stakeholders. Maintaining confidentiality is crucial, as the position involves handling sensitive information related to students. The Clerk will also assist with various programs and activities related to Student Services, ensuring that they are well-informed about institutional policies and procedures. Additionally, the Clerk will be responsible for collecting and analyzing educational data for student files and meeting deadlines for requested information and reports. The Clerk I will also be expected to establish and maintain positive working relationships with other administrative staff and faculty, acting as an advocate for students in alignment with the college's mission and values. The role requires effective use of technology for record-keeping and communication, as well as a commitment to maintaining high standards of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity. Participation in professional development and compliance training is also a requirement of this position, along with serving on college committees as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Work experience in an educational setting (preferred)
  • Experience using Banner or related student information system (preferred)
