About the position
The Maintenance Clerk position at Willacy County State Jail involves performing clerical tasks related to maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with directives from Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). The role is essential for maintaining accurate records, processing work requests, and supporting the maintenance supervisor in various administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Perform data entry functions related to maintenance management systems.
- Enter work requests and preventative maintenance information.
- Receive, record, and distribute work orders to maintenance staff as directed by the supervisor.
- Type correspondence, form letters, accountability forms, and status reports in a timely manner.
- Maintain files on department records, forms, and correspondence requiring action.
- Schedule vendors for work outside the scope of facility staff as directed by the supervisor.
- Proofread records or forms and copy needed information as required.
- Request and track merchandise, supplies, parts, and equipment for maintenance activities.
- Maintain perpetual inventory control on materials and supplies in the tracking system.
- Promote positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and providing feedback to staff.
- Maintain accountability of offenders and property while adhering to safety practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- One year of related experience preferred, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and data entry.
- Valid driver's license in Texas with an acceptable driving record required.
