About The Position

The Clery Act Compliance Coordinator at Rice University is responsible for ensuring the institution's compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, as well as other related regulations. This role involves coordinating compliance programs, preparing reports, and collaborating with various university departments to maintain accurate records and promote safety on campus. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management or related field.
  • One or more years of experience in procedural or policy administration, data analysis and reporting, or related compliance activities required.
  • Advance Clery Act Certification within six months from hire.
  • Knowledge of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and associated regulations.
  • Skill in analyzing organizational problems and identifying effective solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in higher education and previous experience complying with requirements of Clery Act.
  • Advanced Clery Act Training.
  • Familiarization with Title IX.
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEO) and Higher Education Act (HEA) guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the Violence Against Women's Act (VAWA).
  • Knowledge of the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Rice University designated Campus Safety Survey Administrator.
  • Ensure compliance and reporting with all requirements of the Clery Act.
  • Coordinate Rice University's Clery Act Compliance program.
  • Develop, maintain, implement, update, and communicate the institution's Clery Compliance policies, program, activities, and procedures internally and externally.
  • Prepare, review, publish, and distribute reports including the Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report.
  • Gather crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources and maintain accurate records on security awareness and crime prevention programs.
  • Review and approve each Campus' annual security report prior to publication to ensure compliance with the Clery Act.
  • Serve as record custodian for all Clery records and ensure data and record systems are accurate and compliant with the Clery Act.
  • Train key institutional stakeholders on Clery Act requirements and stay updated on changes affecting Clery Act provisions.
  • Ensure compliance with Emergency Notification requirements of the Clery Act through collaboration with the office of Crisis Management.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor developing crime trends and public safety issues for the UMB community.
  • Collaborate with the Emergency Management and Public Information Officer to ensure compliance with Clery Act requirements.
  • Coordinate with appropriate campus offices to maintain an accurate list of buildings and properties owned by the institution.
  • Chair the Drug Free Schools Committee and prepare biannual DFSCA report.
