About the position

The Client Litigation Manager - Liability Claims at Sedgwick is responsible for managing high-value legal inquiries and disputes, particularly those that may attract media attention. This role involves developing strategies for case resolution, maintaining client communication, and coordinating with legal counsel to ensure effective management of claims. The position emphasizes a culture of caring and support for employees, promoting professional growth and a diverse work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with client(s) and keeps them informed of anticipated exposure.
  • Handles public relations related to media interest in specific cases.
  • Reviews and acts on reports/forms; responds to inquiries and seeks legal opinions for early resolution.
  • Concentrates on high exposure claims ($300,000+) and claims of a sensitive nature.
  • Responds to decisions, agreements, and/or court orders; creates action plans and determines the need for examinations.
  • Identifies cases for settlements/redemptions and gathers additional information.
  • Requests legal/private investigations and coordinates with local counsel.
  • Responds to requests from plaintiff's counsel, unions, employees, or clients.
  • Identifies issues and formulates defense strategies.
  • Establishes and adjusts accrued liability and approves administrative expenses.
  • Identifies subrogation opportunities and manages the process.
  • Attends mediations or hearings as needed.
  • Works with partners to affect early return-to-work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred, with legal courses preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required, including five (5) years of claims management experience and three (3) years of litigation claims management.
  • Thorough knowledge of claims management processes and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to work in a team environment.
