About the position

The Client Payroll Specialist role is designed to provide an enhanced service to Absence Management beyond disability benefit administration. The Payroll Services performed by a Payroll Specialist are customized based on each client's unique needs. This individual will possess a high level of technical knowledge, ethics, and values while addressing issues for both individual client and internal claim operational needs. The position requires the preparation and maintenance of custom client payroll records and deadlines, ensuring accurate filing of tax reports, and maintaining and updating amounts of benefits and associated adjustment of tax liabilities. Additionally, the role involves administering pay integrations to the disability program, including Regular Pay, Paid Time Off, Top-Up benefits, and Off-cycle checks on a client-specific basis. The Payroll Specialist will also be responsible for self-funded check cutting benefit adjustment calculations and data integration through the use of COGIX backend programming. Custom interface and payroll auditing to meet client-specific needs are also part of the responsibilities. The Payroll Specialist will partner with the Internal Claim Operations team to investigate complex payroll escalations and act as a relationship partner between the client's HR/Payroll department and internal Matrix/RSL teams. Obtaining and maintaining access to external client systems such as time and attendance and payroll is necessary on a client-specific basis. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain custom client payroll records and deadlines
  • Ensure accurate filing of tax reports
  • Maintain and update amounts of benefits and associated adjustment of tax liabilities
  • Administer pay integrations to the disability program such as Regular Pay, Paid Time Off, Top-Up benefits, and Off-cycle checks on a client specific basis
  • Perform self-funded check cutting benefit adjustment calculations
  • Conduct data integration through the use of COGIX backend programming
  • Implement custom interface and payroll auditing to meet client specific needs
  • Partner with Internal Claim Operations team to investigate complex payroll escalations
  • Act as a relationship partner between the client's HR/Payroll dept. & internal Matrix/RSL teams

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years claims management experience, required
  • 1 to 3 years direct payroll processing experience, preferred
  • Associates degree or equivalent, a plus or higher education (CPP designation, preferred)
  • Proven experience in payroll expertise, especially in the area of third-party sick pay and other disability benefits
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations in this field and knowledge of resources for additional information, as needed
  • Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of relevant software
  • Knowledge of multiple payroll systems, a plus (Ceridian, ADP, Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP, Kronos, and NGA)
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent math, verbal and business writing skills, good reading comprehension
  • Ability to organize work, manage time and follow through
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Proven experience in providing internal and external customer service
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion
