The Project Manager/Electrical Engineer position at SSR in Memphis, TN, is responsible for overseeing projects of low to medium scope and complexity. This role involves planning and executing management plans tailored to each project, ensuring the delivery of quality products and services to clients in a timely manner, managing project financials, and serving as the primary contact between the SSR project team and the client. The Project Manager is accountable for Total Project Success, which encompasses all results related to people, product, and profit. Key responsibilities include confirming project scope and requirements with clients, developing financial plans, assisting in staffing and budgeting, ensuring quality assurance and control, managing project schedules, and facilitating communication between clients and the project team. The ideal candidate will have a technical or Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, ten years of practical experience, and Professional Engineer Licensure, with a preference for healthcare building design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm the project scope and requirements with the client and other stakeholders, working with the Client Relationship Manager (CRM) or Location Leader as needed.
  • Help develop a financial plan for the project by negotiating fees and contracts, preparing proposal letters, and participating in the man hour budgeting process.
  • Assist in developing the project staffing plan and preliminary man hour budget with the Senior Project Manager (PM), CRM, Department Head, or Location Leader as applicable.
  • Ensure a Project Coordinator (PC) is assigned to the project and work with the PC to have the client fill out the BIM Questionnaire to ensure proper model setup, model information flow, and management.
  • Participate in and learn how to structure project kick-off meetings to convey project scope, client expectations and standards, man hour budgets, etc.
  • Work with the design team to confirm a final man hour budget based on discipline work plans that identify tasks and hours to complete.
  • Work with the client to understand schedule expectations and propose interim milestones to the schedule for proper information flow, adjusting as necessary throughout the project.
  • Schedule work, communicate schedule information to the project team, monitor manpower requirements, and assist in updating eResource with current man hour projections.
  • Prepare and implement a proactive Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plan for projects.
  • Ensure that invoices are accurate and delivered in a timely manner, monitor and participate in collections of account receivables, and update the projected monthly revenue earnings for each project.
  • Attend meetings with owners, clients, and architects; facilitate communication between clients and the project team; and document important issues.
  • Monitor project budget throughout the project and work with the project team to schedule work in accordance with man hour budgets.
  • Identify, negotiate, and administer fees for additional services as needed.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project and engage in business development activities with the current client base.
  • Perform risk assessments to develop response strategies; manage risks throughout the project.
  • Respond to contractor's and client's request for information quickly and efficiently.
  • Manage the Construction Administration (CA) process by designating CA personnel to ensure building systems are installed consistent with the design and predetermined quality standards.
  • Supervise the job closeout process to ensure documentation, lessons learned, and filings are complete.
  • Work alongside and engage with the Senior PM, CRM or Location Leader to increase knowledge of project scope, budgeting, and revenue projections.
  • Actively attend internal and external training and other educational opportunities to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas.

Requirements

  • Technical or Bachelor's degree in one of the major technical disciplines practiced by the firm with ten years of practical experience on similar projects.
  • Professional Engineer Licensure.
  • Healthcare building design experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project approach and system design.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and how to create and maintain budgets.
  • Must be comfortable working with Clients.
