About the position

The Client Service Specialist at Umpqua Bank is responsible for processing a variety of customer account transactions efficiently and confidentially. This role focuses on providing an exceptional banking experience by building relationships with customers and offering appropriate banking products and services. The position requires strong cash handling skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer account transactions including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, and check cashing.
  • Balance cash drawer and transactions accurately.
  • Learn about new and existing banking products and services.
  • Discuss and assess customers' financial needs to recommend appropriate products and services.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of money in the cash drawer and prompt accounting or transfer of funds.
  • Identify and report fraudulent activity.
  • Follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support daily tasks to maintain branch integrity, such as balancing the ATM and processing night drops.
  • Support referral goals by identifying and referring basic bank products to business partners.
  • Provide an extraordinary customer experience.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Some experience in customer service preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cash handling environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to pass Client Service Specialist training programs.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and internal teammates.
  • Ability to perform repetitive finger, hand, and arm movements.
  • Ability to think critically and provide appropriate solutions.
