About the position

The Client Services Representative I role at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is designed for individuals who are fluent in Japanese and possess strong customer service skills. This position involves managing customer inquiries related to cash management products, logging customer data, and collaborating with various departments to resolve issues. The representative will also support the sales team and relationship managers by providing assistance and knowledge of bank products.

Responsibilities

  • Log customer data and inquiry information into proprietary system.
  • Work with partner bank to provide setup service support and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage customer entries into billing database for generating invoices.
  • Collaborate with back office operations, Deposit & Clearing, and Investigations departments for wire transfer issues and inquiries.
  • Problem-solve with product team to assist in resolving issues.
  • Develop knowledge of bank cash management products to support GTBD sales team and corporate banking relationship managers.
  • Maintain knowledge of internal policies and procedures to effectively execute processes.
  • Communicate closely with Senior Client Service Representatives on daily tasks and progress.
  • Answer and address customer inquiries related to cash management products.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in Japanese.
  • Recommended years of experience: 2 years.
  • Ability to use time efficiently and effectively while remaining customer service oriented.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task a broad range of activities, tasks, and outcomes.
  • Proactively follow-up on open items and work that needs to be advanced forward.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing across various communication settings and styles.
  • Build constructive and effective relationships with internal and external parties using diplomacy, respect, and tact.
  • Ability to anticipate customer's needs.
  • Ability to quickly learn internal policies and procedures, think independently, and suggest solutions.
