About the position

The Client Services Specialist at Lighthouse For The Blind Of Houston is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and managing appointment scheduling for clients receiving Health Services and Education and Technology services. This role involves assisting with client billing, including interactions with third-party payors, and requires a commitment to the organization's principles of Leadership, Integrity, Growth, Humility, and Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and respond to communications from patients, clients, and providers through various methods including phone calls, emails, and texts.
  • Communicate directly with patients and their families about their vision needs.
  • Provide intake services for walk-ins and call-ins, setting up accounts for billing and payment purposes.
  • Complete intake documents and provide necessary pre-visit paperwork to patients.
  • Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and eligibility verification.
  • Handle inquiries from patients or insurance regarding assigned accounts.
  • Assist with invoicing and collections for third-party payors.
  • Process client payments and maintain confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA laws.
  • Support day-to-day operations of the Vision Rehabilitation Clinic and its staff.
  • Cross-train to ensure sufficient departmental coverage.
  • Send and receive requests for medical information from providers and agencies.
  • Upload patient paperwork to the electronic medical system and maintain electronic health records.
  • Schedule and confirm client appointments for various departments.
  • Coordinate communication between patients and providers in Health Services and Education and Technology.
  • Manage inventory, pricing, sales, and ordering for the Lighthouse Store.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, and dispensing patient devices and supplies.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software for billing and communication purposes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Excellent conflict management skills and professionalism in client interactions.
  • Knowledge of Assistive Technology aids.
