About the position

The Climate and Energy Project Manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will support the North America Climate Mitigation Program, focusing on advancing equitable, science-based policies and practices for a net-zero future. This role involves operational and project management support, particularly for the Renewable Energy Deployment strategy, and requires collaboration with various teams and external partners to achieve program goals.

Responsibilities

  • Support project management for the Renewable Energy Deployment strategy, including managing team agendas and organizing speakers.
  • Develop and manage project workplans, budgets, metrics, and schedules in collaboration with team leads and program management staff.
  • Conduct research and outreach to support program reporting and tracking.
  • Lead grant and contract management activities in compliance with TNC's policies.
  • Monitor and measure project progress, conducting corrective actions as necessary, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Track, maintain, and report on key data, trends, and best practices related to the North America Climate Mitigation Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination; 2 years of project management experience or 1 year acting as a project lead.
  • Completed coursework or training on project management principles, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in managing complex or multiple projects, including finances and coordinating work of professionals and partners.
  • Experience managing project teams and working with cross-functional staff.
  • Proficiency in common software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and web browsers.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to navigate complex project challenges and offer innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in interpreting guidelines and analyzing data.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or knowledge of current trends in project management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation and persuasion abilities.
  • Relevant experience with NGOs or organizations on project management.
  • Knowledge of conservation and community implications of renewable energy technology.
