About the position

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across the Major Developments Directorate at a period of major regeneration in the city. You will be part of a team that leads on funding, placemaking, climate change, capital projects, and inward investment. You will work closely with the Assistant Director for Growth and Development and the portfolio holder for climate change. You will be considered a specialist in your given field and will be immersed in a wide variety of different tasks involving putting proposals together, delivering programmes, advising businesses, and being an active member of the Lincoln Climate Commission. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, willingness, and a passion for place.

Responsibilities

  • To develop, implement, co-ordinate and champion the Council's policies, strategy and action plan for addressing the impact of climate change on Lincoln, working with both internal colleagues/service areas and external partners/organisations and communities.
  • Oversee the implementation of cross-functional climate related initiatives.
  • Pro-actively make appropriate linkages and act as a ‘brand ambassador' to identify new climate change opportunities for the Council and partners.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and partners to deliver schemes successfully, e.g. relevant Council teams, Members, appropriate neighbour and community groups and end users.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary professional teams to co-ordinate, implement and deliver allocated projects and ensure key project milestones are met in accordance with agreed approvals.

Requirements

  • Experience of developing, leading and managing effective teams (internally and with partners), setting clear objectives and providing constructive feedback.
  • Experience of reviewing and writing policies and plan how this can be implemented practically in the workplace.
  • Experience of advising managers at all levels clearly and concisely in line with relevant legislation.
  • Experience of making consistent, timely and risk-based decisions and advice.
  • Ability to use and be responsible for council resources.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure to ensure that both deadlines are met and high standards maintained.
  • Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work with people from a range of different cultures.
