About the position

The Climate Manager at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA is responsible for ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all members and staff. This part-time role involves monitoring the facility, addressing suspicious activities, and collaborating with staff to enhance the member experience.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe and welcoming environment for members and team members of GPY.
• Monitor an assigned area and report suspicious activities to branch leadership.
• Maintain a log of suspicious activities and deescalate inappropriate or threatening situations.
• Monitor surveillance cameras throughout the facility.
• Conduct building walkthroughs to ensure safety inside and outside of the Branch.
• Contact law enforcement or fire department in case of an emergency.
• Check property security at the end of operating hours and update the activity log.
• Address reports of suspicious activity on the property.
• Prepare for threats and emergencies with a plan of action.
• Escort unwelcome parties off the premises.
• Work collaboratively with GPY staff and members to support a positive member experience.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Authoritative verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.
• Ability to monitor the property and access areas quickly.
• Ability to deescalate inappropriate or threatening situations.
• Prolonged periods sitting or standing.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.

• Previous experience is a plus, but not required.
