The Climate Manager at Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) plays a crucial role in fostering a safe and supportive educational environment for K-12 students with special needs. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students, particularly those who require additional educational and behavioral supports. The Climate Manager will work closely with the Program Director to implement daily functions that ensure the school operates smoothly and effectively. This includes maintaining a safe school environment where students can thrive academically and socially. In this role, the Climate Manager is responsible for providing instructional leadership and creating a positive learning atmosphere. This involves understanding and applying Full Bloom's philosophy, policies, and procedures related to student conduct, discipline, and attendance. The Climate Manager will also implement behavior improvement programs and supervise initiatives that align with alternative education standards. A key aspect of the position is to develop strategies for continuous school improvement, ensuring that all students, especially those with disabilities and behavioral issues, receive the support they need to succeed. The Climate Manager will also oversee safety and security measures during student arrival and dismissal, ensuring compliance with school rules and regulatory guidelines. Effective communication with all stakeholders, including parents and external agencies, is essential. The Climate Manager is expected to lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and respect in all interactions, and guiding staff and students to take pride in their school community. This position may also involve performing other duties as assigned by Full Bloom's leadership, contributing to the overall mission of providing quality education and support to students in need.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Director and Teacher in taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and to prevent damage to school equipment and classroom facilities.
  • Possess an understanding of Full Bloom's philosophy, policies and procedures relating to conduct, discipline and attendance outcomes for students and staff.
  • Provide instructional leadership in creating a positive and caring learning environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current curricular and instructional practices that promote student achievement and are specifically aimed at students with disabilities and behavioral issues.
  • Understand the principles of effective classroom management.
  • Implement the behavior improvement program.
  • Supervise initiatives that meet appropriate alternative education standards.
  • Develop strategies for continuous school improvement.
  • Provide direction and leadership regarding safety and security by assisting in student arrival and dismissal process at school entry and exit points and within the classroom setting as well as participating in proper student searches when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders including parents, outside social service agencies and law enforcement.
  • Ensure compliance in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative policies, and state, municipal and federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct with colleagues, students, and parents in accordance with Full Bloom's policies, procedures and rules.
  • Lead by example by being punctual, respectful, and assertive and by guiding staff and students to take pride in their classrooms, school, and community.
  • Perform other assigned duties determined by Full Bloom's needs and business requirements.
