About the position

The Climate Resiliency Applied Research Analyst is a mid-level role within the Climate Resiliency Program at the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Environmental Protection Office. This position focuses on leading in-house research efforts related to climate resiliency, developing strategic partnerships, and conducting direct research on environmental and climate challenges. The analyst will analyze climate trends, connect EPO programs to maximize tribal benefits, and communicate findings effectively. Collaboration with the Climate Resiliency team is essential to ensure that climate change analyses inform policy and program development for the Seminole community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the expansion of climate resiliency in-house research efforts.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with agencies and academic institutions.
  • Coordinate and conduct direct research on environmental and climate challenges.
  • Analyze and interpret climate trends.
  • Connect EPO programs within a climate lens to achieve maximum tribal benefit.
  • Communicate technical stories in accessible platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Climate Resiliency team to utilize climate change analyses in policy and program development.
  • Assist with partnership development and grant proposals.
  • Support interdepartmental and agency coordination.
  • Utilize both western-based science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) in research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Natural Resource Management, or Urban and Regional Planning is required.
  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in climate analysis is required.
  • 3 years of experience in environmental work is required.
  • Demonstrated excellent project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and ESRI software and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RStudio, and GIS.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) is a plus.
