About the position

The Climber Foreperson is responsible for coordinating crew members and managing equipment to ensure that tree trimming and removal tasks are completed safely and efficiently according to contract specifications. This role involves direct supervision of crew activities, ensuring compliance with safety practices, and maintaining communication with property owners regarding work to be performed.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate crew members, equipment, tools, and supplies to complete jobs according to contract specifications.
  • Direct crew members and manage equipment each day.
  • Climb, prune, and remove trees according to directives.
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; operate brush chipper.
  • Assign specific tasks to crew members and supervise their performance.
  • Plan and execute assigned work in a safe and professional manner.
  • Notify property owners of presence on property and obtain necessary permissions.
  • Ensure crew members wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety practices.
  • Trim and/or remove trees using various tools and equipment.
  • Spray stumps and brush to prevent further growth.
  • Direct cleanup of the job site and secure all equipment and supplies on the truck.
  • Inspect work performed to ensure it meets job specifications and notify customers upon completion.
  • Keep accurate records of time, equipment, and materials used.
  • Conduct daily truck inspections and job briefings as required by law.
  • Restock needed supplies and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Determine actions to take in emergency situations to eliminate hazards.
  • Perform storm work duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to operate required tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directives and delegate work effectively.
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols related to lines and equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
  • Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.

  • Experience in electric utility vegetation management or related fields.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
