About the position

The Clinic Certified Medical Assistant at Rapid Care is responsible for providing essential support to healthcare providers and ensuring a positive patient experience. This role involves preparing patients for examinations, maintaining compliance with regulations, and assisting in various clinical procedures. The Medical Assistant will also play a key role in patient education and safety assessments, while collaborating with other staff members to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the provider.
  • Record patients' past medical history, vaccine status, vital statistics, and medication reconciliation.
  • Maintain compliance with department, clinic, and state and federal regulations and policies.
  • Receive, greet, and direct phone calls; take messages and document in patient's record.
  • Care for instruments by cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing them as needed.
  • Participate in mandatory in-services and attend staff meetings.
  • Follow policy and procedures diligently.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency preparedness and participate in drills.
  • Respect the confidentiality of patient records and use discretion in discussing patient information in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Utilize all department forms and documents in EMRs appropriately.
  • Identify victims and understand the process for reporting abuse.
  • Collect, label, and transport all specimens appropriately.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques when setting up for procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency and routine equipment and procedures.
  • Collaborate with patient care planning and participate in education specific to patient diagnosis and needs.
  • Assist providers with special tests and procedures.
  • Act as a resource person to other staff members.
  • Be a positive and supportive team member to staff members and other departments within the organization.
  • Participate in process improvement teams or interdepartmental efforts.
  • Assess every patient for safety, medication dosage appropriateness, and other needs.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and staff.
  • Complete workload as assigned.
  • Accurately administer medication and perform treatment in accordance with standards of care.
  • Translate medications into pediatric doses and use proper equipment for patient's size and age.
  • Float to other clinical departments as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions).
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete employee health meeting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Course.
  • Must be Registered or Certified as a Medical Assistant.
  • Current BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Up to one year experience with patients in a clinic setting preferred.
