About the position

The Clinic Receptionist at Arbuckle Health Clinic is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by greeting patients, managing appointments, and handling clerical duties. This role is crucial in ensuring that patients are checked in efficiently and that their information is accurately processed in accordance with hospital policies. The receptionist will also assist with various administrative tasks to support the clinic's operations and enhance patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and assist them with registration forms and health information forms.
• Handle all incoming telephone calls and direct them to appropriate personnel based on urgency.
• Make future appointments and answer all inquiries.
• Complete various agency forms and records.
• Type and maintain all patient medical files.
• Inventory and order office supplies regularly.
• Perform clerical duties such as photocopying and filing.
• Review patient charts for accuracy of billing information and ensure compliance with medical/legal requirements.
• Ensure timely distribution of paperwork to involved areas such as billing and physician's offices.
• Enforce hospital collection and insurance verification policies.
• Translate for patients and/or staff as needed.
• Register patients into the HMS system and obtain prior authorizations.
• Call and confirm patients for appointments and assist with referrals.
• Collect payments from patients and distribute receipts.

Requirements

• Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and write in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a healthcare setting.
