About the position

The Clinic Security Guard is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and avocation of patient and staff member safety. Duties will include guiding and controlling clinical traffic flow, assisting and welcoming visitors to the facility. Guard serves as a daily deterrent and safety advocate and is also responsible for daily patrol inside and outside of the facility during business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine patrol of assigned site to deter, detect, and report security or safety problems, preserve order, and protect property. Patrols may be performed on foot.
  • Performs patrol duties according to security policies and procedures and the clinic's specific instructions.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions which may pose risk of injury or death to people at the site.
  • Completes forms and reports which may include Incident Reports, and Criminal Trespass Forms.
  • Notifies local Emergency response agency in the event of an emergency. Maintains order at the site until their arrival and renders basic first aid or CPR as needed.
  • Protects the interests and property of the health center.
  • Approaches unauthorized persons on site to determine their intentions. Warns persons of rule infractions or violations and follows security policies and procedures.
  • Directs actions of patients in line with internal workflows.
  • Directs internal and external movement through site, using signs, flags, and hand signals.
  • Assist visitors within and outside facility.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent program certification.
  • Must be at least 25 years of age per Vehicle Use policy.
  • Valid driver's license, adequate transportation, and eligibility to operate GSA vehicles required.
  • Completion of a basic security officer training course which covers legal responsibilities, weapon safety, and observational skills.
  • Six (6) months of experience working with the public.
  • Knowledge of safety and security issues related to pedestrian traffic.
  • Ability to obtain basic first aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Ability to use good judgment when making decisions within the scope of authority.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with others on the site.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, convey information, and assist visitors within the facility.
  • Possess and demonstrate a courteous and positive attitude toward customers.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow basic operating instructions.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful completions of assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.
  • Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.
  • Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior security experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Licensed as a security officer or guard for the State of OR.
  • Additional trainings which include de-escalation techniques.
