About the position

The Clinical Lab Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert in a 6-month contract role, focusing on testing and validating the mapping of clinical data elements to established standards. This position is crucial for ensuring proper data modeling, vocabulary, terminology, and code-set standards, while collaborating with technical teams to address data quality issues and support customer technology needs.

Responsibilities

• Test clinical content to ensure appropriate data modeling, vocabulary, terminology, and code-set standards.
• Collaborate with technical resources to perform root cause analysis and complete remediation of data quality issues.
• Work with customers to clarify and plan for their current and future technology needs.
• Determine and map existing business processes/functions and recommend changes required to fit a tightly integrated system.
• Design and implement projects requiring systems integration, small teams, and multiple technical platforms.
• Conduct Return on Investment (ROI) and other financial analysis to support project funding/prioritization.
• Collaborate on driving improvement activities to achieve department and organizational goals.
• Coordinate with functional teams to assure consistency and optimization of overall work product.
• Assume a proactive role in driving improvement activities to achieve department and organizational goals to deliver value.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry and business process trends and apply that knowledge to existing business processes.
• Provide subject-matter expertise of Health Ministry processes, policies, and requirements in support of functional area process design, testing, and implementation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations that lead to improvements.
• Monitor task assignments to ensure they are performed on schedule, within intended scope, and to a defined level of quality.
• Escalate process and project issues that cannot be resolved.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Experience with healthcare/clinical terminologies and code-sets, including SNOMED CT™, LOINC, ICD9-10, CPT4/HCPCS, RxNorm, CVX, and other code systems.
• Working knowledge of relational databases/database structures; SQL experience desired.
• Understanding of data collected and used in electronic medical records, and experience navigating EMRs.
• Knowledge and experience with ambulatory and acute clinical workflows and clinical information systems.
• Experience with detailed policies and related data/exchange standards, including the ONC Interoperability Advisory Standard, U.S. Core Data for Interoperability initiative, and ONC Certification Rules.
• Experience with using/implementing HL7 standards and processes, including Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR).
• Experience with lab information systems (LIS) and implementing, testing, upgrading, and standard integrations between lab systems and EMRs.
• Specific experience with PathNet, including high competency in PathNet GenLab and some experience in other lab areas such as PathNet Micro, PathNet AP, and PathNet Blood Bank.
• Additional skills with Epic Beaker, Meditech Labs, Sunquest Labs, or Soft lab systems are desirable.
• Strong project participation skills, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets for data mapping and analysis.
