About the position

The Clinical Applications Professional 3 at UCI Health serves as both a functional and technical leader in the development, upgrade, enhancement, and support of Clinical Information Systems. This role involves managing large modules of enterprise clinical information systems, facilitating decisions that impact applications and patient care practices, and participating in the analysis and design of data communication links between systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a functional and technical leader in the development and support of Clinical Information Systems.
  • Independently maintain and manage large modules of an enterprise clinical information system or department specialty system.
  • Facilitate decisions and work efforts affecting applications and patient care practices.
  • Participate in the analysis and design of data communication links between systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • Ability to function as a project leader and project member.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to self-initiate and effectively problem solve issues.
  • Working knowledge of inpatient and/or ambulatory clinic workflows.
  • Experience using/implementing/supporting an EMR in a hospital and/or ambulatory setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow and documentation in Cardiology (Order, Scheduling, Study Acquisition, and Viewing).
  • 3-5 years supporting Clinical Information Systems.
  • Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for problem resolution.
  • Willingness to participate in 24-hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer.
  • Working knowledge of client/server systems, relational database structures, and reporting tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Coordination / management experience.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow and documentation in GI Lab Setting.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow and documentation in OR Integration Systems.
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Working knowledge of HL7 and other interface/integration strategies.
