About the position

National Counseling Group (NCG), a partner of ncgCARE, Inc., is seeking qualified Clinical Assessment Specialists to provide essential services throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Comprehensive Needs Assessments (CNA) and requests for service authorizations are completed in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner. The Clinical Assessors will primarily work with children, adolescents, and adults facing behavioral health challenges, conducting assessments mostly in clients' homes, but also in schools or other community locations. The Clinical Assessment Specialist will be responsible for meeting face-to-face with clients and their guardians (if applicable) to gather relevant clinical information, completing intake forms, and writing the narrative of the CNA as outlined in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) form. They will also populate the client's profile in the EHR, including details such as diagnoses, medications, and allergies, and connect with associated professionals involved in the client's care. Based on the CNA, the specialist will recommend appropriate services and manage the referral workflow, ensuring that the service authorization process is completed efficiently. In addition to conducting assessments, the Clinical Assessment Specialist will respond promptly to all communications, participate in mandated team meetings, and maintain office hours to support clinical teams with assessments and authorizations. This position requires a dedicated individual who is enthusiastic about making a positive impact in the behavioral health field and is willing to adapt to the dynamic needs of clients and clinical supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Comprehensive Needs Assessments (CNA) for clients.
  • Meet face to face with clients and guardians to gather clinical information.
  • Complete intake forms and appropriate releases.
  • Write the narrative of the CNA as outlined in the EHR form.
  • Populate the client's profile in the EHR with relevant information.
  • Connect with associated professionals involved with the assessed client.
  • Recommend services based on the CNA findings.
  • Complete referral management workflow for services.
  • Conduct the service authorization process and complete the Service Authorization Form in the EHR.
  • Submit the Service Authorization Form to the appropriate Managed Care Organization (MCO).
  • Interact with MCO Care Coordinators regarding additional information requests or service justification.
  • Notify local leadership and the NCG authorization specialist about completion of assessments.
  • Respond timely to all communication (emails, voicemails).
  • Participate in mandated team meetings and case staffings with Supervisor Teams.
  • Maintain office hours to support clinical teams with assessments and authorizations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Resident in Counseling (VA) certification required.
