About the position

The Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Emergency and After-Hours Care at Oklahoma State University is a clinical-track faculty position focused on providing emergency care for large animals, particularly equine and food animals. The role involves overseeing case management for after-hours emergencies, educating veterinary students, and collaborating with a team of specialists in a supportive environment. The position offers opportunities for professional development and consultation work outside the referral area, with a strong emphasis on communication skills and a passion for veterinary education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and case oversight to large animal house officers, veterinary students, and technical staff in emergency situations.
  • Manage after-hours emergencies and hospitalized patients, with a caseload of approximately 65% food animal and 35% equine.
  • Engage in laboratory and didactic instruction of veterinary students as needed.
  • Collaborate with ACVIM (LA) diplomate and ACVECC (LA) residency trained faculty clinician.
  • Maintain excellent communication with staff and students.

Requirements

  • DVM degree or equivalent and eligibility for licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Preferred qualifications include diplomate status in ACVS, ACVIM, ACVECC, ABVP, or completion of a large animal residency training program.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching or mentoring veterinary students.
