About the position
Midwestern University is seeking a full-time faculty member in Exotic Animal Medicine to join their College of Veterinary Medicine. This position can be tailored to the candidate's experiences and career goals, and it offers the opportunity to teach and mentor students while providing clinical services for exotic animal patients. Faculty members will engage in teaching, clinical mentorship, and collaborative research, contributing to the education of future veterinarians in a supportive and innovative environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services for exotic animal patients in the Companion Animal Clinic and with local external partners.
- Teach in the exotic animal medicine course and clinical skills labs within the DVM curriculum.
- Mentor specialty interns and serve as clinical mentors for house officers and students.
- Engage in collaborative clinical research and patient-centered care.
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree.
- Board certification (or eligibility) by ACZM, ECZM, or ABVP.
- Evidence of excellent clinical and communication skills.
- Understanding of patient-centered care.
- Willingness to engage in collaborative clinical research.
- Strong commitment to meeting the needs of students and house officers.
- Collaborative mindset to foster a team-approach to teaching and service.
