About the position

The Clinical Assistant plays a vital role in patient care by preparing individuals of all ages for examinations, assisting providers during procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation. This position emphasizes compassionate care and adherence to the core values of respect, stewardship, and quality, reflecting the healing ministry of Christ.

Responsibilities

• Take patient histories and prepare patients for examination.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
• Document patient information and procedures as requested by the provider.
• Coordinate medical functions for the provider in the practice.
• Assist patients to exam rooms and take vital signs.
• Maintain and order stock in exam rooms and manage medical supply inventories.
• Schedule procedures and surgeries, obtaining pre-certification as necessary.
• Clean treatment rooms between patients and at the end of the day.
• Properly clean and store all equipment used in patient treatment.
• Dispose of toxic waste in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Record and distribute sample medications accurately.
• Maintain excellent interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and families.

Requirements

• Must have completed a certified/registered medical assistant program or equivalent training.
• One year of experience in a physician office or outpatient clinic is preferred.
• Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Indiana is required for LPN candidates.
• CPR Provider-C certification is required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and make routine decisions.
