About the position

The Clinical Assistant in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children's of Alabama provides essential assistive care and communication support for patients and healthcare team members. This part-time role is crucial for ensuring a high standard of patient care under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs).

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care under the supervision of RNs and LPNs.
• Communicate effectively with patients, team members, and visitors.
• Support professional and technical staff in delivering care.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
• Document patient care activities accurately.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification required.
• At least six months of patient care experience within the last two years, or enrolled in a medical-related college program with clinical rotation.
• CNA, CMA, PCT, or EMT certification is preferred.
• Graduates of an accredited nursing program waiting on NCLEX re-testing will also be considered.
