About the position
The Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Education at Georgia Southern University is a full-time, non-tenure-track position focused on teaching and service responsibilities. The successful candidate will teach various elementary education courses, contributing to the college's goals of excellence and innovation in teaching and service. This role requires a commitment to engaging with best practices in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design.
Responsibilities
- Teach various elementary education courses with a 4-course workload in fall and spring semesters.
- Supervise pre-service teacher candidates and/or practicum students in field placements.
- Engage with institutional student success initiatives.
- Contribute to the college's goals of continued excellence and innovation in teaching and service.
Requirements
- Earned terminal degree (PhD or EdD) in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Instructional Leadership, or Educational Leadership (P5) by August 1, 2025.
- Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in U.S. public school settings teaching students in grades P-5.
- Experience supervising pre-service teacher candidates and/or practicum students in field placements (online and face-to-face).
- Ability and willingness to teach both online and face-to-face courses.
Nice-to-haves
- Minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a content area (mathematics, science, ELA, or social studies), particularly mathematics.
- Experience supervising pre-service teacher candidates and/or practicum students in P-5 field placements as a university or clinical supervisor (online and face-to-face).
- Experience teaching face-to-face and online education courses at the university level.
- Experience developing online education courses at the university level.
