About the position

The University of Texas Permian Basin is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering with a focus on design and manufacturing. This full-time faculty position involves teaching undergraduate courses, mentoring students, and establishing a research program with industry and national labs. The successful candidate will engage in innovative research, collaborate with students and faculty, and contribute to curriculum development while maintaining a strong presence on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate coursework in electrical engineering.
  • Schedule classes and maintain a regular attendance on campus for a minimum of four days a week.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students during weekly office hours.
  • Establish innovative, externally-funded research programs in collaboration with industry and national labs.
  • Involve undergraduate and graduate students in research activities.
  • Collect assessment data as outlined by the ABET Program Coordinator.
  • Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.
  • Participate in course/laboratory revisions and curriculum development as assigned.
  • Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings, convocations, and recruitment activities.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Teaching experience in education or industry.
  • Proven history of collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Evidence of mentoring student research.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior teaching/research experience in electrical energy, power systems, and electric machines as applied to sustainable energy.
  • Ability to use active learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction.
