About the position

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management at Purdue University Fort Wayne is a non-tenure track position focused on teaching undergraduate courses related to culinary and food and beverage operations. The role emphasizes the development of the program, management of the culinary lab, and student recruitment and retention, with a start date of August 18, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Teach four undergraduate courses per semester in Fall and Spring, including Food Safety and Sanitation, Introduction to Food Selection and Preparation, Food & Beverage Operations, Food History and Culture, and Food From Farm to Fork.
  • Occasionally teach courses online, but primarily offer face-to-face instruction.
  • Manage the culinary lab and oversee its operations.
  • Engage in service to the department and university, including program development.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.

Requirements

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Hospitality & Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or 18 credit hours in hospitality with a master's degree in another area.
  • Valid Food Protection Manager Certification and attain Instructor/Proctor status with Servsafe within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively use teaching strategies and technologies for in-person and/or online learning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in catering and events.
