About the position
The University of Michigan, in collaboration with Trinity Health Muskegon, is seeking a full-time cardiac surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on the clinical track. This role involves a faculty appointment at the University of Michigan Medical School, with clinical responsibilities focused at Trinity Health Muskegon and the Grand Rapids metro area. The surgeon will perform complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgeries and develop a subspecialty niche in adult cardiac surgery. On-call coverage will be shared among faculty members.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
- Develop a specific subspecialty niche in adult cardiac surgery at Mercy Health Muskegon.
- Participate in on-call coverage shared with fellow faculty members.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency.
- Proficiency in all aspects of adult cardiothoracic surgery.
- Exceptional teamwork and program development skills.
- Mentorship abilities and evidence of clinical competence.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in the U.S. or D.C.
- Ability to obtain appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan.
- Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery or board eligible for new graduates.
