About the position

The Clinical Coordinator Program at Penn State Health's Cancer Institute for Solid Tumors is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the seamless and efficient movement of patients through the healthcare system. This position encompasses a variety of management and supervisory responsibilities, where the Clinical Coordinator acts as a role model, manager, consultant, collaborator, educator, and clinician. The coordinator will work closely with healthcare teams to facilitate patient care, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective treatment while navigating through various stages of their healthcare journey. This role is essential in maintaining high standards of patient care and operational efficiency within the Cancer Institute. In this position, the Clinical Coordinator will be tasked with coordinating patient flow, which includes overseeing the scheduling of appointments, managing patient admissions and discharges, and ensuring that all necessary resources are available for patient care. The coordinator will also be responsible for educating patients and their families about treatment processes, available services, and support resources. By fostering collaboration among healthcare providers, the Clinical Coordinator will help to create a supportive environment that prioritizes patient needs and enhances the overall patient experience. The Clinical Coordinator will also play a key role in quality improvement initiatives, working to identify areas for enhancement in patient care processes and implementing strategies to improve outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the timely and efficient movement of patients through the healthcare system.
  • Serve in management and supervisory capacities, acting as a role model and consultant.

  • Educate patients and families about treatment processes and available resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Three (3) years of nursing experience required.
  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
