About the position

The Clinical Data Analyst at UPMC Stroke Institute is responsible for designing, analyzing, and presenting analytical solutions to support data-driven decision-making in stroke care across multiple sites. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to summarize population characteristics and outcomes, ensuring accurate reporting logic, and utilizing various clinical and administrative data sources. The position is fully remote and operates during standard business hours, with no weekend or holiday work required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical analyses in a team-oriented atmosphere and review the analytical outcomes to both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
  • Interact with various clinical and non-clinical teams throughout each project to ensure data definitions and assumptions are accurate.
  • Identify trends in outcomes, utilization, medical quality, and other areas.
  • Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by the department, which may require extended daily work hours or weeks.
  • Effectively prioritize and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal UPMC departments and external contacts as appropriate.
  • Stay abreast of new solutions relevant to the department through webinars and conferences requiring brief travel.
  • Master new computer software programs and upgrades as applicable.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Assist in organizing and leading discussions with multi-disciplinary teams, including senior management and physicians.
  • Identify current and future data challenges, develop meaningful recommendations, and provide timely updates on issues encountered.
  • Exhibit advanced problem-solving using various information sources.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure data accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Healthcare Management, or related field OR High School Diploma and 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is required.
  • Knowledge of SQL/Business Intelligence is preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • Epic training is mandatory within the first year of employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cognos, Power BI, and Qlik.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
