About the position

The Clinical Data Registrar for Perinatal Services is responsible for reviewing complex clinical records to secure data for inclusion in formal longitudinal registries. This part-time position requires the use of classification and coding systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and national mandates, while also conducting data quality monitoring and facilitating quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform review of complex clinical records to secure data for longitudinal registries.
  • Use classification and coding systems via computerized software within required time frames.
  • Abstract high integrity information from internal medical records and conduct reviews of external medical records.
  • Perform interoperability and reliability testing and utilize data quality monitoring techniques.
  • Complete timely submission of data to various disease/procedure specific specialty databases and registries.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary weekly case conferences and submit required documentation for CME.
  • Develop, perform, and evaluate quality improvement activities for registries.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of registry data for reporting purposes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and care management staff.
  • Prepare and assist with studies for publication, audits, and annual reports.
  • Develop and update Registry Policies and Procedures on a yearly basis.

Requirements

  • RHIT certification required.
  • Associate's degree in health information management or related field required.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in data collection, including coding/abstracting and clinical documentation.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and basic statistical methods.
