About the position

The Clinical Dietetic Technician at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for screening patients and collecting relevant nutritional data, including medical histories, dietary preferences, and clinical symptoms. This role involves entering patient information into software systems and collaborating with Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) to support nutrition assessments and interventions. The position requires effective communication and teamwork within an interdisciplinary environment to enhance patient care and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records to collect data for screening patients.
  • Review nutrition-related labs and discuss findings with RDN.
  • Collect information from patients and caretakers to support RDN for Nutrition Assessment.
  • Assist in completing test trays including testing temperature and taste.
  • May assist in conducting meal rounds.
  • Conduct patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Assist and complete quality improvement or performance improvement activities.
  • Provide general nutrition education to the general healthy population.

Requirements

  • Completion of an associate's or higher degree program in Dietetic Technology, Dietetics, or a related field accredited by ACEND.
  • One year of clinical experience in dietetics with an active Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification, or equivalent combinations of experience and education.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of clinical nutrition or food service related experience.
