About the position
The Clinical Dietitian position at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital is an entry-level role responsible for implementing nutritional care based on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' standards. The role involves medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education, and collaboration with an interprofessional healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety. The Clinical Dietitian will also monitor and reassess nutrition care plans, recommend adjunctive services, and contribute to departmental goals for patient satisfaction and employee engagement.
Responsibilities
- Implement nutritional care according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
- Conduct medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education for patients.
- Monitor and reassess nutrition care plans and recommend adjunctive services as needed.
- Participate in care coordination rounds as a collaborative interprofessional team member.
- Communicate pertinent patient care information to management and healthcare team members.
- Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment (NFPA) to identify malnutrition.
- Document malnutrition findings in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Complete quality monitors to ensure continuity of care and evaluate outcomes.
- Adjust nutrition care plans to provide cost-effective therapy.
- Maintain professional development and conduct interdepartmental training.
Requirements
- Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required credentials.
- Completion of a dietetic internship accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Completion of supervised practice hours as per Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) requirements.
- Registered Dietician (RD) certification by the CDR.
- State Licensure as a Dietitian (LD) in Texas or obtain within 60 days.
