About the position

The position involves ensuring the adequacy and appropriateness of nutritional support for patients across various age groups in assigned units. The role includes screening, assessing, instructing, and monitoring patients, as well as providing individualized nutritional assessments and counseling for outpatients. Additionally, the position entails developing and implementing nutrition education programs for hospital staff and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequacy and appropriateness of oral, enteral, and parenteral nutritional support for patients.
  • Screen, assess, instruct, and monitor patients according to established standards of care.
  • Provide individualized nutritional assessment, counseling, and follow-up for outpatients as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nutrition education programs for hospital staff and the community.
  • Engage in direct care with patients of all ages, including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school with an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved curriculum.
  • Completion of internship or qualifying experiences previously approved by the ADA.
  • Registered Dietitian by the ADA or registry eligible.
  • Registry eligible candidates must obtain registration within 12 months from date of hire.
  • Experience in an acute care medical facility with responsibilities for assessing and teaching normal and modified nutrition preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
