About the position

The Clinical Dietitian PRN position at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital is an entry-level role responsible for implementing nutritional care in accordance with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' standards. The role involves providing medical nutrition therapy, nutrition education, and collaborating with an interprofessional healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety. The Clinical Dietitian will also monitor and reassess nutrition care plans, recommend adjunctive services, and contribute to departmental goals for quality and patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Implement nutritional care according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education to patients.
  • Monitor and reassess nutrition care plans and recommend consultations for adjunctive services as needed.
  • Conduct Nutrition Focused Physical Assessments (NFPA) to identify malnutrition.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to document malnutrition in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Complete quality monitors to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identify and document evaluation of outcomes through test trays of various diets.
  • Manage patient assignments and complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice to support patient care and communicate with the interprofessional team.
  • Identify opportunities for corrective action and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required credentials.
  • Completion of a dietetic internship accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Completion of supervised practice hours as per Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) requirements.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification and License Dietitian (LD) within 60 days.
