About the position

The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) is a 395-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC, next to the Foggy Bottom metro. The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist provides nutritional assessment and intervention to patients. This role is essential in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate dietary guidance tailored to their individual health needs. The dietitian will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement nutrition care plans, monitor patient progress, and adjust dietary recommendations as necessary. This position requires a strong foundation in nutrition science, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of patient care and confidentiality. As part of the GW Hospital team, the Registered Dietitian will have the opportunity to engage in professional development and growth within Universal Health Services, Inc. Responsibilities

  • Provide nutritional assessment and intervention to patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust dietary recommendations as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on nutrition-related topics and dietary modifications.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) certification
  • Completion of a dietetic internship
  • Washington DC License
  • 1-2 years' experience in a clinical setting
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital or clinical setting
  • Knowledge of electronic health record systems
  • Familiarity with nutrition assessment tools and methodologies.
