About the position

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for coordinating all phases of patient nutrition care, including assessments, interventions, monitoring, and education for both hospitalized patients and outpatients. This role emphasizes providing high-quality, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy tailored to meet the specific cultural and dietary needs of patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Provides high quality, evidence based, efficient and patient-focused medical nutrition therapy to patients.
• Establishes individualized plans of care for each assigned patient, planning menus in accordance with dietary requirements.
• Coordinates food service procurement for assigned patients, production, and distribution.
• Provides technical guidance and advises other personnel on food planning, preparation, and serving to achieve health-related goals.
• Provides patient, professional, and nutrition staff education as needed.
• Coordinates with other Clinical Dietitians to ensure continuity of care during shift changes, patient transfers, and discharges.
• Refers complex issues to higher-level staff and leadership as needed.
• Performs duties in support of organizational initiatives and compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Performs chart reviews as needed.
• Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or a related field required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care environment or completion of a coordinated undergraduate program (CUP) with a dietetic internship of no less than 900 hours under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian required.
• State of Idaho Licensed Dietitian (LD) and CDR Registered Dietitian (RD) required within 90 days of hire.
• BLS certification required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Meditech, and Nutrition Care Manual.

Nice-to-haves

• Kootenai Health approved specialty certification preferred.
• Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
