The Clinical Documentation Associate plays a crucial role in supporting clinical workflows by acting as a liaison between patients and healthcare teams. This position is essential for ensuring that medical records are complete and accurate, which is vital for patient care and reporting outcomes. The associate will work closely with patients and healthcare providers to manage data related to patient care outcomes, identify potential gaps in clinical documentation, and support process improvement initiatives. In addition to these responsibilities, the Clinical Documentation Associate will perform liaison duties for patients in the Family Internal and Rural Medicine (FIRM) clinic. This includes supporting quality improvement initiatives and ensuring that clinical documentation accurately reflects the care status of patients. The role requires extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, and coding staff, as well as assisting with case management and identifying opportunities for enhancing documentation tools and processes. The associate will also contribute to the education of medical residents, nursing students, and new employees, facilitating quality population-based patient care within the scope of their licensure. The position requires a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing in the State of Alabama, with a minimum of two years of LPN experience. The associate must also hold a current CPR certification and have experience using electronic health record systems.
