About the position

At Galen College of Nursing, we are dedicated to providing excellence in nursing education, and we are seeking a passionate Clinical Education Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our nursing students receive high-quality clinical experiences that align with their educational objectives. The Clinical Education Manager will be responsible for coordinating and supervising clinical experiences for all students enrolled in prelicensure nursing programs. This includes negotiating and arranging clinical placements, overseeing the integration of standardized clinical learning activities, and evaluating student performance in clinical settings. In this position, you will assist faculty and staff in preparing for clinical experiences, ensuring that all required compliance documentation is completed and that faculty members are oriented to the specific requirements of each clinical facility. You may also serve as a faculty substitute during clinical experiences when necessary. Building and maintaining relationships with clinical agency representatives is essential to ensure a variety of clinical sites are available to meet student learning outcomes. You will oversee the hiring, performance appraisal, and mentoring of clinical faculty and staff, ensuring that they are well-equipped to provide quality education to our nursing students. The Clinical Education Manager will also be responsible for conducting walkthrough surveys of clinical sites, reporting findings to college leadership, and making recommendations for curriculum changes based on identified needs. You will play a key role in continuous quality monitoring and improvement by implementing clinical experience surveys and attending Student Advisory Committee meetings to gather feedback. This position requires strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication abilities to effectively resolve any concerns that may arise during clinical experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the operation of clinical experiences to provide clinical learning experiences according to established learning outcomes.
  • Assist faculty and staff with preparation for clinical experiences, including required clinical compliance documentation for students and faculty.
  • Serve as faculty substitute in the facilitation of clinical experiences as needed.
  • Assist with standardized clinical faculty and staff orientation and development in collaboration with campus and college leadership.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of clinical agencies to maintain a variety of clinical sites appropriate for student learning outcomes.
  • Oversee and assist with hiring, performance appraisal, and mentoring of clinical faculty and staff under the direction of campus leadership.
  • Assist with negotiating and arranging clinical experiences in alignment with established clinical site selection criteria.
  • Identify agencies for clinical experience that are appropriate to support course student learning outcomes and collaborate with campus leadership to establish clinical learning opportunities.
  • Oversee clinical site development and clinical scheduling to enhance nursing student experiences.
  • Oversee the implementation of clinical experience surveys for continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
  • Perform walkthrough surveys of clinical sites and experiences and report findings to college and campus leadership.
  • Make recommendations for curriculum and clinical learning activity changes based on research and identified needs.
  • Communicate and integrate college-wide policy and process changes regarding clinical learning standardization and implementation.
  • Attend Student Advisory Committee meetings and report feedback to college and campus leadership for continuous quality monitoring and improvement.
  • Assist with the resolution of student and/or faculty concerns regarding clinical experiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of an MSN, or a BSN with at least two (2) years' experience in clinical education.
  • Unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the applicable state.
  • At least two (2) years of recent clinical experience in nursing education.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with creativity and innovation.
  • Proficient computer skills to collect and analyze data.
  • Must agree to obtain CNEcl certification within one (1) year of acceptance of position.
